Interesting Places to Visit
I decided that I would like to list all of the places I have been to that are somewhat interesting. Basically, these are the out of the way places that are easy to miss. Some aren’t meant to be gotten to, some aren’t hidden at all.
Alchemy and Herbalist Trainer Outside Stormwind (39,49 Elwynn Forest)

This was the very first ‘out of the way’ place I ever found. I completely missed it until I was around level 20 or so. I simply never knew it was there. All those trips into Stormwind to train my alchemy and herbalism, with this place just outside.
A lot of people are completely aware of this place, though, so if you feel the need to show it off, be prepared for people to laugh at you (like some of you are laughing at me right now..)
Thunder Falls (25,59 Elwynn Forest)

Thunder Falls is well known amongst the higher level players, but most people that are fairly new to the game know nothing about it. It exists above the waterfall at Mirror Lake to the west side of Elwynn Forest. There’s no special trick to get up there, really.. just walk in the only places you can. There is a house, a dock and several Defias up here. Sometimes, a chest will spawn up here as well. Other than that, there isn’t anything too fancy, but it’s still neat to have seen it.
Newman’s Landing (Behind Stormwind.. Couldn’t get Coordinates)

Finally. A place that isn’t as easy to find. Ok, scratch that. It’s easy to find, but unless you are exploring out of the way areas, and want to swim for a while, you won’t find it. Basically, to get here, you can either swim south from the Wetlands, or, swim north from Westfall. You will swim for quite some time before you come across it. there isn’t anything else before or after it except cliffs and small inlets. Once you reach this place, though, you will find a dock and a run-down empty house. A sign here announces it as Newman’s Landing. I’m not sure of the history of the place yet, but i suspect it is a dedication to someone within Blizzard. I was unable to get coordinates on either of my coordinate systems, so you are on your own there.
Ironforge Airport (69,23 Dun Morough)

Ahhh. The infamous Ironforge Airport. You’ve all seen it as you fly out of Ironforge. the mock troll/dwarf fight, the planes, the flight path… This is one of those spots that Blizzard keeps trying to keep people from getting to, but each time they block one path, someone comes along and finds another. The current method to get there is a very easy path to follow. It’s not easy to find, however, unless you look it up online. Thottbot has it, check there for a video showing you how to get there. For now, it is one of the more interesting (and fulfilling) places to visit. getting here made me feel like I accomplished something. There are a lot of NPC’s to talk to, but all they do is give you directions. The planes are pretty nifty to get a look at, and sadly, the flight path isn’t real. One neat thing that I noticed is that there is a dwarf by the mock flight path that is apparently set to wave to people flying by on the birds. You can see him wave, but not the flyers. I had thought I had seen him wave to me before.
Wetlands Farms (46,72 Wetlands)

The Wetlands Farms are the farmland areas you see while flying from ironforge to Menethil. Just look down. They come right after the airport. You get here by going to the airport first, then floating down some way to the lake. (Or dying from a fall, then running a long way to resurrect.) Of all of the places I have seen, this is the most interesting because of a tunnel that is here. At the end of the tunnel is a drop-off. Noone knows how far down the drop-off goes. Some have tried to find out, but they claim you just fall forever. I don’t know, I didn’t try.
Theramore Lighthouse (72,47 Theramore/Dustwallow Marsh)

This is another of those places that has always been there, but you may have never noticed before. Nothing special about it, really, except for the ability to get some really nice screenshots. Nothing on the little island to speak of. It’s east of the docks in Theramore.
The more interesting lighthouse lies further east, but is guarded by some 61 elite hydras that i chose not to take on. When I do, however, I’ll grab a screenshot.
