Workaround for Add-ons not working

Hi everyone.  Been a while since I posted, but with the new patch release, you all found that your add-ons no longer work.

Don’t fret.  I have been testing some of them, and you CAN get some of them to work with a simple work around.  Go into your c:\program files\world of warcraft\interface\addons\ directory.  Under that directory, all of your addons are installed.  Go into each directory, and find the TOC file.  It will be the only file in there that has the extension of .toc .   Edit that file with notepad or wordpad, and on the line that says “Interface: ####” replace the number that is currently there with 20000.  This works on a lot of addons, but not all of them.

It is not a GUARANTEED fix for your mods, but it certainly seems to work for a lot of them.  I did it with EquipCompare, and it works perfectly.  I have several others that I am trying now, and will post, in the comments, if they work or not.

Sadly, Benecast is dead.  I don’t expect it will be back because Blizzard took out the ability to make spell decisions for you.

So far, I know that FastQuest and Equipcompare work with this workaround.  I am trying many others, including auctioneer and the likes.  I will let you know what I find.

Ok. Here are some that DO work with this workaround so far:

    EquipCompare
    FastQuest

Addons that DON’T work this way:
    Benecast
    Auctioneer
    Deposit Box

I’ll post more as I test em..

    Benecast
    Deposit Box
    Auctioneer
    Ace
    Decursive

I am sure there are updates for many add-ons already, but with servers being inundated with traffic, it’s a confusing mess right now.. so.. I’ll keep this post here just in case…

    Ok..

    TitanBar doesn’t work this way.
    Nor does ReagentData.

This is NOT a replacement for updated addons.. it is just a workaround to keep some of them going until we get updates. Hope you guys find it useful.

If you guys try this on other addons and it works or doesn’t, please post it here so others know.

    PetFeeder doesn’t work. *sigh*

I had to disable all of TitanBar because it has so many dependencies, it’s difficult to make it work.

Like I said.. when you find an update, grab it.. but this can get you by on some. :)
